Now Accepting 2019 Scholarship Applications

The Ivy and Pearls of Southern Maryland Community Charities, Inc., in conjunction with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, Nu Zeta Omega Chapter will be awarding academic scholarships, up to $1,000, to graduating high school seniors who reside in the Charles and St. Mary’s Counties.  Each 2019 graduating senior must plan to attend an Historically Black College or University (HBCU) on a full-time basis in the year of graduation.  Additionally, four (4) scholarships in the amount of $500 will be awarded to two (2) students who plan to attend the College of Southern Maryland and to two (2) students who plan to attend St. Mary’s College on a full-time basis in the year of graduation.

Scholarships will be awarded based on academic achievement, community involvement, and the applicant’s ability to effectively articulate thoughts and ideas both orally and in writing. All candidates must possess a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 based on a 4.0 scale, calculated through the end of the second quarter.  If selected, the candidate will be required to attend an in-person interview during the week of March 18-22, 2019.
